Panasonic gaf op de beurs een persconferentie waarin de huidige ontwikkelingen en de toekomstvisie aan bod kwamen. Hieronder leest u de Engelstalige samenvatting van deze persconferentie.

150” Ultra High Definition Display Shown at ISE Show 2008, Amsterdam

Panasonic, the leading brand by which Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is known, showed today, for the first time in Europe, the prototype of the world’s largest Flat Panel Display, 150-inch advanced high definition (HD) PDP.  Displayed throughout the show at the Panasonic booth, 29th to 31st January 2008 at the Amsterdam RAI where ISE 2008 is held.

Leading Large Format Display in the Professional Market

As the European leader in Professional large format display, Panasonic showed for the first time the 103” Full High Definition Plasma at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2006. The product became commercial in October 2006, one year and three months ago. Despite many prototypes from different brands being show-cased, the Panasonic 103” is still the largest flat panel display on the market.

Now Panasonic, once again leading the Professional large display market, takes a huge leap and develops the 150-inch PDP, which delivers dynamic, overwhelming image quality with an 8.84 million pixel resolution (4096 x 2160) - more than four times the 1080p FHD specification (1920 x 1080). The prototype has a screen size equivalent to nine 50-inch Plasma displays with an effective viewing area of 3.31 m (W) x 1.87 m (H). With the enhanced PDP technologies Panasonic accumulated in the development of its 103-inch PDP, the 150-inch PDP provides stable and uniform images across the vast expanse of the screen and the same brightness as the 103-inch PDP.  Featuring true-to-life colour reproduction capability and quick response to moving images, the ultra-large PDP renders clear, crisp, spectacular images unrivalled by any other.

As the 103-inch PDP has been welcomed by industry and has spread across various applications in commercial and public facilities, ranging from Corporate usage, broadcast stations, Shopping Malls, Retail, educational institutions, Hospitals, Leisure facilities, Rental companies, Control rooms, Airports and Railway stations as well as High End Home Cinema application.  The Giant 150-inch display is expected to generate new demand across various industries.

Professional Plasma Displays for every solution

All of Panasonic’s unique solutions don’t just offer the highest quality product in terms of image quality and reliability, with the widest range of sizes (42”, 50”, 58”, 65” and 103”) and resolutions; but through their unique slot-in system with more than twenty different connectivity boards (including PC, wireless and boards to support any connection), Panasonic Professional Displays fit with every single requirement.

This innovation may prove to be only the tip of the iceberg of Plasma’s potential. PDP is a relatively young technology as it has only been about ten years since Plasma appeared on the market.  In tandem with the market’s growth, the Plasma has steadily improved in quality, gained popularity and become a leader in the global market for large format displays & high-quality. Over the course of their development, Plasma displays have established their reputation as displays that excel in high-contrast, colour reproduction, moving picture resolution and wide viewing angles. However room for improvement remains as the plasma display panel’s full potential is yet to be realised.

Environmental friendship

Panasonic continues to explore new technologies to open up a new area for Plasma as the company responds to customer demands across the world.  While seeking to raise the quality bar, the company continues to pursue greener products.  As it is well known, Plasma Displays, being free of Mercury, are the greenest technology, but on top, Panasonic became the first company to completely eliminate lead from Plasma displays.  Panasonic’s range of professional displays include models which have a long life of up to 100,000 hours.
