CEDIA 2008 komt er weer aan

Redactie AV & Domotica | 05 juni 2008

Now in its 12th year, CEDIA Expo has grown into one of the most important dates in the European calendar for home electronic systems. Offering an extensive education programme alongside a comprehensive trade-only exhibition which showcases the latest technologies and products for the residential custom install industry, CEDIA Expo is a must-attend event for all home electronic system designers, installers, equipment manufacturers and distributors. It also provides an invaluable insight into the sector, its integrated technologies and lifestyle benefits for housebuilders, architects and interior designers.

Visitors to the event will be able to experience the latest innovations and new technologies in home cinema, audio-video solutions, lighting control, structured wiring, HVAC control, blinds and security systems. For those involved in the planning, design, specification or installation of home electronic systems, CEDIA Expo remains a key event in Europe with an exclusively residential focus.

Industry training courses run from Monday 23rd June, with the exhibition itself open for business from Tuesday 24th until Thursday 26th June.

Exhibiting CEDIA

For those interested in new products and the latest technologies, CEDIA Expo is the only annual industry event with the latest residential CI products on offer and is an excellent opportunity for making new customer and industry contacts.

Among those companies taking part at CEDIA Expo 2008 will be AMX, Armour Home Electronics, Arcam, Asheridge Communications, AWE Europe, BPT Security, Chief, Crestron, CSE,  DMi, Extron, Future Automation, Helvar, iLight, InVision, JVC, Kaleidescape, KEF, Loewe, Lutron, Marata Vision, Naim, Pulse Marketing, Rako Controls, Schneider Electric, Sensible Heat, SIM 2, Sonos and Y3K to name but a few!

There are also a number of new exhibitors who’ve signed up as well as companies who are returning to the event, recognising its importance as a launch-pad for new products and innovations in CI. These companies include Bowers and Wilkins, Midwich, Opus Technologies, Spectral GB and Vivanco.

Expo 2008 is being supported once again by the two hugely influential industry trade associations BIDA (British Interior Design Association) and RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). The event is also in discussions with new organisations to build profile for CEDIA Expo 2008 including the HBF (the Home Builders Federation), the ECA (Electronic Contractors Association), the NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors) and CIBSE (the Chartered Institute for Building Services Engineers), as well as Decorex, the premiere event for the interior design market.

Thought Provoking CEDIA

Away from the show floor, CEDIA Expo presents a unique learning experience.

It is the only event that offers such a high quality and diverse range of education that is specifically targeted at the residential technology sector. This year’s event is offering more education than ever before – up 25% on last year, providing over 200 hours of training for delegates.

By listening to feedback from delegates, CEDIA has been able to make a number of improvements to the education programme. Highlights will include the re-introduction of a business owner’s career track at the event, key note speeches from a range of important industry players and a panel-style debate, featuring big-hitters from across the industry who are well-known for their strongly held points of view.

Highlights of this year’s programme include such courses as Advanced Site Management, Design Documentation and Selling the High Performance Difference. The world renowned President of Speakercraft, Jeremy Burkhardt, will be sharing his thoughts on Being a Leader as part of the new business seminar series, whilst Integrated Technology for Low Carbon Homes will give an invaluable insight into what is arguably the hottest topic of the day. Many of the courses which are included this year have been revised in order to be as up to date as possible, amongst these are Structured Cabling – Design, Installation and Testing Workshop and Multi-room Audio and Video Distribution Technologies.  Courses will continue to follow the popular career-track approach but with the re-introduction of a business owner’s career track.

Certification is another important strand of the programme. This year’s CEDIA Expo will see the introduction of a world first - specialist training and Certification for Home Cinema Design Specialists. Delegates seeking to attain the Certified status qualification are able to sit this course or one of the CEDIA Installer Level 1, Advanced Installer or Designer Level 1 examinations at Expo. And those already Certified will be able to maintain their status by gaining Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) for attendance and completion of courses on the CEDIA Education programme and CEDIA approved Trade Supplier Product training courses.

The Expo Seminar Guide, available from April onwards, features full course descriptions and timings for the extensive range of seminars and workshops taking place at CEDIA Expo. It enables attendees to plan their visit to Expo well in advance, and provide all the information needed to reserve course places at the earliest possible opportunity. For a copy of the Seminar Guide, please email expo@cedia.co.uk, call CEDIA on 01480 213744 or visit the CEDIA Expo website www.cedia-expo.com. Members booking multiple courses will also benefit from a discount scheme. To take advantage, bookings must be made before the 30th May - and with CEDIA Expo fast approaching it’s time to book! Seminar places are notorious for selling out, so hurry to avoid disappointment.

Party Time at CEDIA

As part of the usual mix of networking and fun that takes place at Expo, CEDIA has some exciting plans on the social side.

The CEDIA Chairman’s reception, a regular event on the Expo calendar, will be returning to The Fox @ ExCeL where exhibitors and members will be able to enjoy drinks and canapés. At the event, which is invite only, CEDIA chairman Simon Williams will announce the winners of two Expo awards – Best Stand at Expo and Best Shell Scheme at Expo. This is Simon’s last year as chair before he steps down later this year.

On the success of last years luxury Thames cruise aboard the SS Dixie Queen, the Wednesday night looks set to be a glittering affair with the party, which is a key networking opportunity during Expo, set to be an exciting and enjoyable night out for all members of the CI industry.

Taking place within the recently refurbished O2 Arena, the party is in The Raan, a contemporary venue, split over two levels, located in the heart of the Arena. The evening will kick off with a free ‘happy hour’ from 7pm until 8pm, where unlimited drinks will be available, courtesy of CEDIA. There will be a Thai theme to the evening, reflected in the food and entertainment.

There are 400 tickets available for the CEDIA party, priced at £20 each. Tickets can be booked via the CEDIA Expo website and can be added to other Expo bookings. Further information on both events will be provided by CEDIA nearer to the time.
